Wonu Balogun (b. 1991, Chicago, IL) is a Nigerian-American artist currently living and working in Berlin. Raised in Chicago and holding a BA in Visual Arts from Ball State University, Balogun’s work explores the intersection of environment and cultural identity, often through figurative forms entwined with blooming botanicals.

Her imagery centers on the evolving self, figures in flux, grounded yet reaching, caught between rootedness and reinvention. Drawing from her experience as a first-generation American, Balogun reflects on the in-between spaces of belonging, becoming, and adaptation, evoking the quiet strength required to grow amid shifting environments. Each bloom is both symbol and witness: a gesture of resilience, hybridity, and the beauty of unfolding.
